About Us

At the Center for Psychological Health and Emotional Wellbeing Nepal, we are dedicated to improving the mental health and emotional resilience of individuals across Nepal. Our mission is to promote mental health awareness, break the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and provide comprehensive support to those in need. We believe that mental health is just as vital as physical health, impacting every aspect of a person’s life, from childhood through adulthood.

Understanding Mental Health

Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It shapes how we think, feel, and act in daily life, influencing our ability to handle stress, build relationships, and make important decisions. At the heart of our work is the understanding that mental health exists on a continuum. It’s not just about being diagnosed with a condition—it’s about recognizing when we or others are struggling and providing the necessary support.

Mental Health in Nepal

In Nepal, mental health is a critical issue that remains underserved. With limited mental health professionals, especially in rural areas, and a strong cultural stigma surrounding mental illness, many people do not receive the care they need. Mental health problems like depression, anxiety, and trauma—often exacerbated by natural disasters, political instability, and migration—are common but largely untreated due to the lack of awareness and access to resources.

We acknowledge these challenges and aim to make a difference by offering services that address both the psychological and social aspects of mental health. Our team works in collaboration with professionals, communities, and individuals to bring mental health services to underserved areas.

Breaking the Stigma

One of the greatest barriers to mental health care is the stigma that surrounds it. In Nepal, many still view mental illness through the lens of superstition or cultural taboos, leading to discrimination and isolation for those who suffer. Our center is committed to challenging these misconceptions through education, outreach, and open conversations about mental health. We believe that by raising awareness and normalizing mental health care, we can foster a more compassionate and understanding society.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see a Nepal where mental health is a priority, and individuals can access the care they need without fear of judgment or discrimination. We aim to integrate mental health services into primary healthcare systems, ensuring that support is available in both urban and rural areas. By working closely with schools, communities, and healthcare providers, we hope to create a future where mental health is seen as an essential component of overall well-being.

We provide a range of mental health services, including: Counseling and psychotherapy Mental health awareness programs Training for mental health professionals and community workers School-based mental health initiatives Crisis intervention and trauma support Our approach is holistic, combining psychological care with community-based solutions to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a mentally healthy life.

While significant progress has been made in raising awareness about mental health in Nepal, there is still much work to be done. We are committed to continuing our efforts to expand mental health services, reduce stigma, and educate the public about the importance of psychological well-being. Together, we can build a society where mental health is valued, understood, and supported for all.
